Advanced metallurgy for performance

Why materials science is at the heart of what we do.

Understanding the complex relationship between how a component is made, what microstructural properties it has, and how it performs is key to achieving the highest-quality parts possible.
Our materials function is home to world leaders in metallurgy and process engineering, who apply computational techniques and advanced experimentation to mature the design and processing of metallic materials, for a market-leading combination of cost and performance.

ABD®-1000AM

High temperature nickel superalloy, developed for AM

Designed in collaboration with Aubert & Duval and using Alloyed’s ABD® platform, this novel alloy provides excellent environmental resistance and high-temperature strength, with a working temperature range beyond 1,000°C in its age-hardened state. Compared to cast alloy Ni247LC, this offers near-equivalent stress rupture life while allowing crack-free Additive Manufacturing and heat treatment, enabling complex part design for components within the aerospace, power, automotive, defence and space industries.
