Lead the end-to-end development, validation, and industrialisation of secondary processes that turn AM builds into production-ready components. Own process capability, yield, cost, and scalability for operations including depowdering, precision EDM, chemical surface processing, mass finishing, and - critically - vacuum filling and hermetic sealing of AM vapour chambers.

Process Development, Scale-Up & Automation

• Define secondary-operations flows and acceptance criteria from NPI to stable production (e.g., Ra, flatness, CTQs, leak-rate).
• Translate experimental findings into robust, repeatable production specifications.
• Develop scalable manufacturing processes appropriate for high-volume production, reducing operator dependency and improving cycle time, yield, and repeatability.
• Drive scale-up and automation: takt/cycle-time optimisation, bottleneck removal, inline inspection, and robust handover to Operations.
• Lead automation-readiness activities: leak-test fixture design, crimping/closing tools, vacuum-line improvements, particle-control workflows, and cleanliness standards.

Post-Processing, Vapor Chamber and Finishing Technologies

• Own vapour chamber processes: vacuum fill, dry-out/bake, laser micro-weld or plug-seal, and helium mass-spectrometry leak testing. Specify fixtures, parameters, cleanliness, and test protocols to meet hermeticity targets.
• Develop robust depowdering methods (mechanical, ultrasonic, fluid/chemical assist) with validated cleanliness metrics and inspection.
• Achieve accurate, repeatable EDM sectioning; design fixturing, select consumables, and qualify parameter windows for tight tolerances and surface integrity.
• Own chemical processing (etch/passivation/cleaning): chemical compatibility, bath control, EHS compliance, and validated surface states for bonding/finishing.
• Implement mass-finishing solutions (vibratory/tumbling/isotropic finishing) to achieve target roughness while preserving geometry; quantify material removal and uniformity.

Quality, Validation & Manufacturing Readiness

• Plan and execute DOE, MSA, SPC and gated qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ); create PFMEA, control plans, SOPs/WIs, and release criteria; support PPAP-like submissions where required.
• Lead NCR/8D/RCAs and implement corrective and preventive actions that sustain yield and capability.
• Prepare the process for transfer to contract manufacturers: maturity mapping, capability requirements, acceptance metrics, and training packages.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership

• Collaborate with Design, Materials, NPI, Quality, Operations, suppliers, and equipment OEMs.
• Train operators and mentor junior engineers.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials, or related engineering discipline.
• 2–5+ years in manufacturing/process development, taking processes from lab/pilot to stable production.

Technical Skills

• Hands-on depth in vacuum processes, laser micro-welding/micro-joining, helium leak testing, precision EDM, mass finishing, and chemical surface treatments.
• Proficiency with DOE, SPC, MSA, PFMEA, control plans; strong data analysis and statistical rigor (Cpk/Ppk).
• GD&T and surface/metrology competence; familiarity with ISO 9001 or similarly rigorous quality systems.
• Fixture/jig design in CAD; practical DfM for secondary operations; basic automation/PLC familiarity is a plus.

Core Competencies

• Analytical problem-solver with shop-floor bias to action; rigorous, organised, and safety-minded.
• Clear technical writing and stakeholder communication; ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• LPBF/AM production experience and/or consumer-electronics hardware exposure.
• Cleanroom/contamination-control know-how; vacuum bake/dry-out processes; supplier and equipment qualification experience.
• Experience with fluid filling, sealing, crimping, and gas-tight joining methods.
