Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of more than 130 world-class metallurgists, mechanical/design engineers, and software developers working across 3 offices in the UK and 1 in Seattle to build the future of advanced metal components for the high-end industry of consumer electronics. To do this, it uses proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling to invent better alloys, devise better ways to process them, and design better 3D-printed components.

Alloyed is seeking a highly motivated Simulation Engineer with expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to join our innovative engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, analysing, and optimizing complex systems to ensure superior product performance, reliability, and efficiency.

You will be based at Abingdon Business Park in South Oxford. A highly competitive remuneration package is offered, including salary and equity incentives.

• Conduct CFD simulations to analyse fluid flow, heat transfer, and thermal management to drive optimisation and design of components and systems.
• Perform FEA to evaluate structural integrity, stress distribution, vibration, and thermal stresses.
• Collaborate with design, R&D, and manufacturing teams to provide insights that drive design improvements.
• Develop, validate, and optimise simulation models and simulation / design workflows that meet project requirements and timelines.
• Interpret simulation results, generate technical reports, and present findings and recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop custom algorithms and processes to improve speed and fidelity of design workflow that drive component designs
• Ensure the design iterations, models and files are maintained to suitable quality standards

• Knowledge of CFD (e.g., Altair, Fluent, or similar)
• Good knowledge of FEA (e.g., Abaqus, Altair, Ansys, or similar)
• Experienced with mechanical engineering and simulation-informed design
• Experience with CAD packages (Autodesk Fusion, SolidWorks…)
• Creativity to solve issues and challenges through design
• High level of attention to detail
• Organised, task orientated and able to work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willing to work flexible hours as needed or by schedule (infrequently)

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in computational design (Rhino and Grasshopper or similar)
• Experience with surface-based modelling
• Understanding of quality procedures
• Good understanding of the additive-manufacturing process (especially LPBF)
• Good understanding of consumer electronics, technology and devices.
• Experience in engineering consultancy
