She leads a team of engineers at Oxford University spin-out Alloyed, which 3D prints metallic alloy components for the aerospace, consumer electronics and defence sectors.

The reason is 3D printing allows you to make very thin, very light and very stiff things. These structural parts are what you need for applications like virtual reality and augmented reality headsets.
