Refractory & High Entropy Alloys

For temperatures at which even nickel alloys cannot operate, Alloyed is developing novel alloys with refractory metal bases and high entropy alloys

For temperatures at which even nickel alloys cannot operate, Alloyed is developing novel alloys with refractory metal bases as well as high entropy alloys, in which no single metal predominates.

The focus here is exploiting the opportunity afforded by the unique thermal and mechanical properties of additive manufacture to process alloys which would be impossible to process by conventional means, and to enable the fabrication of components which offer unprecedented levels of thermal and environmental performance.

Alloyed develops thermal and environmental barrier coating materials alongside the alloys which form the base layer.

Our Capabilities

Because high entropy alloys can contain a much wider range of ratios between different elements than conventional base-metal alloys, the number of potentially manufacturable and differentiated compositions is effectively infinite, and there has been very little exploration of this huge space, with only c.200 different compositions reported in scientific literature to date.

Alloyed is using its computational and experimental platforms in tandem to build up a body of understanding which can be reflected in alloy design at great speed, and is already making exciting progress.

It also has in-house experimental coating capability, which means it can trial complete base-plus-coating component combinations.
